The steelpan is the world's newest acoustic instrument and its popularity continues to grow. Steelbands are everywhere, from Japan to Pittsburgh.  The sound is now everywhere and many people hear the sound, but they do not know that it is steelpan. The pan sound continues to change, and Pittsburgh leads the way.

The steelband is a family of instruments. Each tuned to pitch within a designated range.
